Dr. Venkatesh Merwade, Professor of Civil Engineering, has been selected by the Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR) to receive the 2025 Education and Public Service Award. This award recognizes educational institutions, individuals, groups, or agencies that have made significant contributions to increase public awareness of water resources development, use, or management covering any one or a combination of the natural, biological, and social sciences.

Dr. Merwade provides online educational content, which is used globally by students, instructors and working professionals for learning hydrology and water resources modeling. The award will be presented to Professor Merwade at an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the 2025 UCOWR Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN on  June 4, 2025.
